On July 22, the State Council Information Office held a group interview with Chinese and foreign journalists titled “Strivers on the New Journey.” Liang Yan, a fulltime deputy secretary of the Party branch at Anyang Special Education School in Henan and an Outstanding Communist Party Member of the Nation, shared her experience working on the front line of special education at the event.
Liang Yan has been engaged in special education for 26 years. Together with her colleagues, she has carried out teaching tailored to students’ characteristics, developed individualized growth plans for the children, and introduced a teaching model of “main subjects + special talents.” The school has also established 14特色 clubs, including dance, drum music, and porcelain carving.
Liang Yan said that special education is not merely accompaniment, but helping children tap their potential and build confidence. She mentioned that the school’s porcelain carving workshop won first prize in the national art performance exhibition for primary and secondary schools, and that many children have gradually shown new possibilities in learning and daily life.
She said that in recent years, relevant policies have continued to improve, allowing more children with special needs to integrate better into learning and life. Liang Yan hopes to continue holding herself to the standards of a Party member, help every student grow, and let every “star” shine equally.
