Guangzhou Re-elected as Co-Chair City of the World Association of Major Metropolises

According to the Guangzhou Foreign Affairs Office of the municipal government, the General Assembly of the Metropolis Association was held in Tangier, Morocco, on June 26, during which a leadership restructuring election was completed. Guangzhou will continue to serve as a cochair city of the association and will continue to undertake the responsibilities of the association's AsiaPacific regional office. The assembly also decided that the regional subcenter of the World Association of the Major Metropolises Training Center will be established in Nansha, Guangzhou. Guangzhou also introduced its practical experience in green and smart urban transportation at the meeting. It is understood that the World Association of the Major Metropolises was established in 1985 and is an important international cooperation platform for major cities around the world. Guangzhou joined the association in 1993, became a board city in 1996, has been continuously included in the presidency for five consecutive terms since 2014, and served as a chair city from 2020 to 2022.
