Shin Jang-sik elected as the new leader of the Rebuilding Korea Party

The Rebuilding Korea Party elected lawmaker Shin Jangsik as its new leader at the party convention on the 25th. Shin won 96.7% of the vote at the convention held at the Suwon Convention Center in Gyeonggi Province. In his acceptance speech, Shin stressed that the party must take a stronger stand to complete judicial reform. He criticized the Democratic Party of Korea for moving too slowly on reform and argued that the Rebuilding Korea Party is a faster and more decisive reform party. Shin also said regarding discussions of a merger with the Democratic Party that dialogue based on shared values and vision is possible, but he rejects onesided and aggressive forms of unification. Those elected alongside him as supreme council members included lawmakers Cha Gyugeun and former secretarygeneral Hwang Hyunsun.
