Chinese police repatriate an American fugitive to the United States

On the 23rd, Chinese public security authorities repatriated to the United States a U.S.national fugitive subject to an Interpol Red Notice, who was suspected of serious violent crimes, at Shanghai Pudong International Airport, where he was escorted back to the United States by U.S. law enforcement officers.
According to reports, this fugitive had long been wanted by U.S. law enforcement authorities as early as 2004 for alleged crimes including sexual assault of a minor and shooting his wife. Interpol then issued a Red Notice. After receiving a request from the U.S. side, Chinese police carried out an investigation and apprehended him.
The Ministry of Public Security said that recently, law enforcement authorities in China and the United States have cooperated in areas such as fugitive apprehension, drug control, combating telecommunications and online fraud, antimoney laundering, and repatriation of illegal immigrants, and the two sides will continue to advance practical law enforcement cooperation.
