In Essen, Germany, a SinoGerman youth exchange concert was recently held. Students from the Affiliated High School of Yunnan University in China performed on the same stage as the German Bole Chinese Choir, and the event lasted nearly 3 hours, with a lively atmosphere on site.
During the exchange, members of the German Bole Chinese Choir shared their experience of attending the “Sing to Learn Chinese” summer camp in China this summer. They visited Beijing, Kunming, Pu’er, and other places in succession, and through tours, exchanges, and handson experiences, they gained a more direct understanding of China’s urban life, transportation, payment methods, flower industry, and culinary culture.
The report noted that many members believed it is difficult to truly understand China by relying only on textbooks or the internet, and that personal visits gave them a new perspective. At the concert, the audience also learned to sing “Jasmine Flower” together with the choir, further bringing them closer. The choir said that Sing to Learn Chinese has opened a door for German young people to get to know China, and also helps promote cultural exchange between China and Germany.
