President Lee Jaemyung mentioned the need for monitoring and oversight of the National Election Commission at a briefing on the results of his Europe and G7 tour held at the Blue House's Chunchugwan on the 19th. Referring to the shortage of ballots that occurred during the June 3 local elections, President Lee said that if both the ruling and opposition parties reach an agreement, they could also consider a 'singleissue constitutional amendment' related to the NEC. He explained that since the NEC is a constitutionally independent institution, there may be limits to establishing an oversight system by law alone. He also described the 2030 generation, which raised this issue, as surprising and commendable, and said that young people had actively brought up issues of fairness and order.
