Foreigners Turn Net Buyers for the First Time in 25 Trading Days... KOSPI Closes at 8,123.62
KOSPI recovers the 8,000 level, surging on expectations of an end to the U.S.-Iran war and buying by foreigners and institutions Amid sidecar volatility, semiconductor stocks also strengthened, confirming the flow of investment
The KOSPI has once again moved back above the 8,000 mark on expectations that the war between the U.S. and Iran will come to an end. On the 12th, the KOSPI closed at 8,123.62, up 359.67 points from the previous trading day.
In early trading that day, the index surged sharply, triggering a temporary suspension of program buy orders, the socalled sidecar. Since the start of this week, volatility has widened significantly, and sell and buy sidecars have alternated.
The rise was driven by net buying from foreigners and institutions. Foreign investors turned to net buying for the first time in 25 trading days, purchasing 2.1181 trillion won, while institutions also posted net purchases of 2.4013 trillion won. On the other hand, individual investors recorded net sales of 4.3366 trillion won. The rise in U.S. stocks and the strength in semiconductor shares also affected the domestic market.
