Jeong Cheong-rae refutes remarks on "self-serving politics" aimed at Kim Min-seok

Jeong Cheongrae, former leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who is running for reelection as party leader, directly refuted former Prime Minister Kim Minseok’s remarks about “selfcentered politics” on the 7th. In a Facebook post, Jeong took issue with the current prime minister using the expression “party leader romance” in a way that was not appropriate to the time or place, and argued that such remarks were themselves an example of selfcentered politics. This was a response to Kim’s comments the day before, in which he mentioned the harmful effects of selfcentered politics that create confusion in partygovernment cooperation as he declared his bid for party leadership. Jeong said that during his tenure as party leader, he appointed people in a balanced and inclusive way, did not put forward close aides in local elections, and explained that the oneperson, onevote system is also a public value. He also emphasized that the party, government, and presidential office achieved major legislative results such as prosecution reform, judicial reform, and media reform, and said he would continue to make his position clear on each topic going forward.
