Local elections 4 p.m. turnout reaches 54.7%... surpassing the final turnout in 2022

The National Election Commission announced that, as of 4 p.m. on the 3rd, the voter turnout for the nationwide local elections was tallied at 54.7%. Of the total 44,649,908 eligible voters, 24,428,042 had completed voting, including early voting.
This figure is 9.3 percentage points higher than the 45.4% turnout in the 2022 local elections at the same time, and 1.5 percentage points higher than the 53.2% turnout in the 2018 local elections. However, it falls short of the turnout at the same time in last year's presidential election and the 2024 general election.
As of 4 p.m., regional turnout was highest in Jeollanamdo at 61.9%, while Gwangju had the lowest at 49.5%. Seoul was tallied at 56.0%. Main voting takes place at designated polling stations from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and voters must bring an ID.
