The National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference held a专题协商会 on "Accelerating Agricultural and Rural Modernization" in Beijing on July 28. Wang Huning, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, attended and delivered a speech, stressing the need to conduct indepth consultations and make proposals focused on enhancing comprehensive agricultural production capacity, advancing the development of beautiful and livable villages suited for both living and working, and improving the effectiveness of policies that strengthen, benefit, and enrich agriculture.
Wang Huning noted that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, China has made significant progress in work related to agriculture, rural areas, and farmers, with steady advancement in poverty alleviation, rural revitalization, and agricultural and rural modernization. He said that the People's Political Consultative Conference should strengthen research, consultation on political affairs, and democratic oversight around food security, highquality agricultural development, and comprehensive rural revitalization, providing support for the implementation of relevant decisions and policies.
Nearly 100 members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference attended the meeting and spoke on topics including seed industry revitalization, grain production capacity, quality and safety of agricultural products, agricultural science and technology innovation, revitalization of povertystricken areas, rural public services, and agricultural and rural modernization in border and ethnic minority regions. Vice Premier Liu Guozhong of the State Council also attended and delivered a speech, stressing the need to continue adhering to the priority development of agriculture and rural areas, and to advance urbanrural integration and the building of a strong agricultural country.
