Yeouido Park is being redeveloped into an urban park with an ecological forest, pond, and walking paths Look forward to a new landmark connecting the Han River and Saetgang through Yeouido Field and pedestrian axes
Yeouido Park in Seoul will be newly transformed into an ecologycentered urban park by 2030. The Seoul Metropolitan Government said on the 1st that it had selected a plan to overhaul the park as a whole through an international design competition.
The new plan includes creating forests and ponds throughout the park, as well as a walking path linking the northern Han River waterfront and the southern Saetgang. The central Culture Yard will be transformed into a lawn of about 20,000㎡ called 'Yeouideulbat,' and gently sloping hills, like those in a real field, are also planned.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to preserve the park's ecosystem while strengthening pedestrian connectivity between West Yeouido and East Yeouido, as well as between the Han River and Saetgang. It is also pushing ahead with a plan to use the park as a space for performances and outdoor events in connection with the Second Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, which is scheduled to open in 2030.
