Breaking Free from "Performance Anxiety" and Delivering Results that Benefit the People

A correct view of political achievements: take people’s livelihood and well-being as the core standard for measuring performance Improve the assessment fault-tolerance mechanism to encourage cadres to work diligently and for the long term

The article focuses on how to establish a correct view of political achievements, pointing out that some leading cadres, under the pressure of assessments, shortterm results, and personal expectations, are prone to “achievement anxiety.” The author believes that the key to overcoming this mindset is to shift the focus of work back to the needs of the people and to take improving people’s livelihoods and wellbeing as the core standard for measuring political achievements. The article notes that the concrete implementation of livelihood areas such as education, healthcare, elderly care, and childcare better reflects real accomplishments than pursuing superficial highlights. At the same time, political achievements must also follow objective laws; one must not ignore actual conditions in order to produce results quickly, and even less should one create achievements by blindly launching projects or staging a numbers sprint. Only by thoroughly understanding the situation, accurately identifying problems, and making practical countermeasures can development成果 stand up to scrutiny. The article also points out that behind the view of political achievements lies the view of power and values. To reduce “shorttermism” and “personal showmanship” practices, efforts must also be made at the institutional level, by optimizing assessment and evaluation, improving the orientation for selecting and appointing personnel, and strengthening mechanisms for tolerating and correcting mistakes, so as to encourage cadres to work diligently and pursue longterm endeavors, and to devote more energy to solving practical problems and enhancing the people’s sense of gain.
