The People Power Party revealed internal disagreements over how to make use of independent lawmaker Han Donghoon in the confirmation hearing process ahead of the confirmation hearing for nominee Kim Seungwon, candidate for Justice Minister. Rep. Kwak Gyutaek of the National Assembly’s Legislation and Judiciary Committee said in a radio interview on the 11th that Han’s role in raising issues is meaningful, but there is no need to go as far as reassigning committee membership just so he can join directly as a hearing member. He explained that People Power Party members on the committee can simply divide their roles and cooperate. On the other hand, Rep. Yoon Sanghyun said that while reassigning committee membership is realistically difficult, Han’s capabilities and materials should be used together. Even within the party leadership, proHan Supreme Council member Woo Jaejun and Supreme Council member Cho Gwanghan expressed different views on the disciplinary issue involving Han, while floor leader Jeong Jinseok drew a line, saying that reassigning an independent lawmaker is difficult.
