Woman in her 40s dies in Buan apartment fire, 7-year-old son suffers burns

A fire broke out at an apartment in Buan County, North Jeolla Province, killing a woman in her 40s and leaving her 7yearold son with burns. According to the Jeonbuk State Fire Headquarters, around 12:56 a.m. on the 13th, a fire started on the third floor of an apartment in Buaneup, and the woman, identified as Ms. A, who lived in the unit, died. Ms. A's son, B, suffered seconddegree burns on his arm and other areas and has been taken to a hospital for treatment. The fire burned the apartment interior and household belongings, causing property damage estimated by the fire department at about 65 million won. On the same day, fires also broke out one after another at places across the Jeonbuk region, including an auto repair shop, a wood pellet factory, and an empty lot at a repair shop, leading to some casualties and property damage. Police and fire authorities are investigating the cause of each fire.
