Railway passenger traffic rises during the Dragon Boat Festival. China Railway expects to carry 19.73 million passengers today and add 1,028 additional trains. Popular routes are dynamically increasing capacity, and checking remaining tickets before booking makes travel less stressful.
On the first day of the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, passenger traffic on the national railways increased significantly. China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. said it expects to send 19.73 million passengers on June 19 and plans to add 1,028 passenger trains to meet travel demand.
Looking at transportation conditions on June 18, the national railways sent 16.742 million passengers, and overall operations remained safe, steady, and orderly. As of 8:00 a.m. on June 19, Railway 12306 had cumulatively sold 51.59 million train tickets for the Dragon Boat Festival holiday travel period. Popular departure and arrival cities were mainly concentrated in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, and other places.
The railway authorities said that various regions are dynamically adjusting capacity according to changes in passenger flow, with a focus on increasing train services on routes to and from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xi'an, Wuhan, Qingdao, and other destinations. Ticket availability is relatively tight in some popular sections, but there are still ample remaining tickets on multiple routes. Passengers may purchase tickets and travel reasonably according to their itinerary.
