On September 17, the 2026 Shanghai Cooperation Organization Traditional Medicine Forum opened in Nanchang, Jiangxi. Shen Yueyue, Vice Chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Chairperson of the SCO GoodNeighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Commission, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech.
Shen Yueyue said that this forum, themed "Harnessing the Wisdom of Traditional Medicine, Building People's Health Together," aims to implement President Xi Jinping's important remarks and the consensus of the heads of state of the member countries, promote strengthened exchanges and cooperation among SCO countries in the field of traditional medicine, and enhance the health and wellbeing of people in regional countries.
She also pointed out that efforts should continue to implement the four major global initiatives, uphold a peoplecentered approach, mutual benefit and winwin cooperation, innovation empowerment, and openness and inclusiveness, promote collaboration in the traditional medicine industry and the digital and intelligent development of traditional medicine, and carry forward the "Shanghai Spirit" to jointly advance the building of a global community of health for all.
