Beijing is expected to have moderate to heavy rain on August 2, with frequent thunderstorms over the next three days
Beijing will see frequent thunderstorms over the next three days, with a high risk of localized downpours from afternoon to night. Pay attention to alerts and travel advisories, avoid mountainous areas and river channels, and take precautions against lightning and water accumulation for greater safety.
On August 2, the Beijing Meteorological Bureau reported that thunderstorms will be relatively frequent in Beijing over the next three days. The rainfall will mostly be intermittent and localized, mainly occurring from the afternoon into the night, and shortterm rainfall intensity may be relatively strong. At present, Beijing has issued a yellow thunderstorm warning and a blue rainstorm warning.
The weather forecast shows that from the afternoon of the 2nd into the night, Beijing will see more noticeable rainfall. Most areas will have moderate to heavy rain, and some local areas in Huairou, Miyun, Mentougou, Fangshan, Haidian and elsewhere may experience rainstorms. The main period affected in the urban area will be from the evening to the first half of the night. From the afternoon of the 3rd into the first half of the night, Beijing will have light to moderate rain, with heavier rainfall in some mountainous and northern areas; from the afternoon of the 4th into the night, there will still be rainfall, and some local areas may also see stronger downpours.
The meteorological department reminds the public that rainfall may affect weekend travel, causing slippery roads and reduced visibility, and lowlying road sections also face a risk of water accumulation. The public should try to reduce outdoor activities during heavy rainfall, avoid mountainous areas, river channels, and regions with geological disaster risks, and pay attention to lightning protection, wind protection, and heat prevention and cooling.
