Ulaanbaatar Central Wastewater Treatment Plant Officially Put into Operation

The inauguration ceremony for the Ulaanbaatar Central Wastewater Treatment Plant in Mongolia was held on June 15. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended the event together with Mongolia’s Chief of Staff of the Presidential Office Uyelszugarled and Foreign Minister Battsetseg. Wang Yi said that the project originated from President Xi Jinping’s commitment during his visit to Mongolia in 2014 to support Mongolia’s economic development, and it is a livelihood project and a friendship project in ChinaMongolia cooperation. China noted that the two sides have long carried out cooperation in areas such as roads, border ports, shantytown renovation, urban infrastructure, medical care and education, and desertification prevention and control, with related projects continuously improving the lives of the people of Mongolia. The Mongolian side said that the wastewater treatment plant is an important achievement of MongoliaChina cooperation, expressed gratitude to China for its support for Mongolia’s economic and social development, and hoped for further development of the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership. According to the introduction, the Ulaanbaatar Central Wastewater Treatment Plant was built by a Chinese company in accordance with Chinese standards and Chinese technology. It is one of Mongolia’s largest and most technologically advanced wastewater treatment facilities, and is expected to improve the local water environment and raise residents’ quality of life.
