The rescue operation for the Liuyang fireworks factory explosion faces multiple challenges
Progress in the rescue of the Liuyang fireworks factory explosion: There is still a risk of re-ignition and secondary explosions at the scene, making response difficult Dual pressure from rubble entrapment and gunpowder transport, follow the latest official updates and rescue developments
On May 5, Changsha, Hunan, reported the latest rescue progress in the explosion accident at the Liuyang fireworks factory. The local official in charge said that the current response efforts are facing two major difficulties.
On the one hand, there is still a large amount of finished and semifinished products remaining at the site, which can easily reignite repeatedly and trigger sporadic explosions; there is also a large amount of gunpowder in the storage area, making transfer difficult and increasing the safety risks for rescue personnel.
On the other hand, large areas of the factory’s walls, beams and columns, and roof have collapsed, leaving much rubble on site. Some people are trapped under debris and passages are blocked, making firefighting, search and rescue, and accident control all more difficult.
