Search and seizure over suspicions of manipulation in vote count input at the National Election Commission

The joint investigation headquarters of the prosecution and police has launched a search and seizure operation after detecting signs of manipulation in vote count input by the National Election Commission and the Gyeonggi Provincial Election Commission during the June 3 local elections. The joint task force believes that election commission officials, after confirming an incorrect vote count input, attempted to hide it by changing figures from a later time period to make the total add up. It was also reported that internal messenger chats contained signs of related collusion. However, as of now, no evidence has been found that the vote counts by candidate were manipulated or that the actual election results were altered, and the investigative authorities also explained that it is too early to conclude that this was an election fraud case.
