On June 17, the Chongqing Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision said that, with approval from the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee, Zhou Jianjun, former Party Secretary of Chongqing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, had been expelled from the Party and dismissed from public office for serious violations of discipline and law.
The notice stated that Zhou Jianjun had engaged in acts such as resisting organizational review, illegally accepting gifts and money, failing to report personal matters as required, engaging in profitmaking activities in violation of regulations, and interfering in the contracting and subcontracting of the school cafeteria. He was also accused of taking advantage of his position to seek benefits for others in matters such as the contracting of school construction projects and the procurement of teaching equipment, and of illegally accepting huge sums of money and property.
The discipline inspection and supervision authorities have transferred his suspected criminal case to the procuratorate for legal review and prosecution, and the related assets have also been transferred for disposal.
