At the National Assembly’s Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee audit of the Ministry of Science and ICT, concerns were raised that investment in Korea’s humanoid industry is insufficient compared with China.
Minister Bae Kyunghoon of the Ministry of Science and ICT acknowledged that existing investment had not been enough, but said the ministry will expand investment related to data, hardware, and AI models together with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Lee Jungheon of the Democratic Party of Korea pointed to robot demonstrations and related materials from Chinese companies, and said that Korea lacks humanoid hardware companies and investment attraction. The government said it intends to promote physical AI and build a robot ecosystem for future application in industrial settings.
