Guangxi systematically advances post-disaster epidemic prevention, strictly guarding against secondary outbreaks
Guangxi post-flood epidemic prevention: Multiple areas rapidly carried out disinfection and risk assessments to prevent secondary outbreaks Supplies were dispatched, drones were deployed, and household guidance was provided in a coordinated effort to reduce post-disaster health risks
After typhoon “Maysak” hit Guangxi, many areas suffered flooding and waterlogging disasters. Following the outbreak, local health and disease control departments quickly organized personnel to enter the disaster areas, carrying out risk assessments, disinfection and decontamination measures, and health guidance, in an effort to minimize the risk of secondary outbreaks.
Guangxi formulated postdisaster epidemic prevention plans according to a “one area, one policy” approach, focusing on places such as flooded homes, schools, medical institutions, farmers’ markets, and breeding farms, and requiring timely disinfection after mud and silt removal to improve the targeting and coverage of epidemic prevention work. The autonomous region and the affected areas also coordinated across departments to allocate disinfectants, sprayers, and professional disinfection teams, promoting fullcoverage disinfection in recededwater areas.
As of July 18, Guangxi had dispatched multiple batches of epidemic prevention supplies to heavily affected areas such as Nanning, Guigang, Qinzhou, and Fangchenggang, organized tens of thousands of persontimes to carry out environmental disinfection, and used drones in some key areas to improve the efficiency of handling largescale sites. Local authorities also used epidemic prevention manuals, home visits, and onsite guidance to educate residents about scientific disinfection after flooding and personal protective measures.
