Jensen Huang’s visit to Japan focuses on collaboration in Physical AI and robotics

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang visited Japan on the 15th and 16th and announced plans to expand cooperation with the Japanese government and major companies in the fields of physical AI and robotics. During this visit, the discussions focused on integrating AI and robotics into manufacturing sites, and Japan’s manufacturing and robotics industry base was emphasized. NVIDIA unveiled its new physical AI model, “Cosmos 3 Edge,” in Japan and announced cooperation plans with Fujitsu, FANUC, Hitachi, Yaskawa Electric, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, SoftBank, and others. With Kawasaki Heavy Industries, it decided to pursue the concept of an “AI shipyard” that combines AI robots for shipyards, digital twins, and AI agents, and with Toyota, it discussed cooperation on autonomous driving and traffic control systems. The Japanese government plans to secure 27,500 GPUs based on NVIDIA’s nextgeneration AI accelerator platform, “Vera Rubin,” and deploy them in the sovereign AI project “Noetra.” Japan is focusing on a physical AI strategy that leverages its manufacturing and robotics capabilities rather than generalpurpose AI, and NVIDIA sees Japan as a key testbed for related technologies.
