The National Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters has activated a Level IV flood control emergency response for Shanxi, Henan, and Shaanxi

On July 16, the National Office of Flood Control and the Ministry of Emergency Management held a joint consultation with multiple departments to assess the recent heavy rainfall situation and arrange flood prevention work. The National Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters has activated a Level IV flood control emergency response for Shanxi, Henan, and Shaanxi, while maintaining Level III response for Liaoning and Jilin and Level IV response for Heilongjiang and Shandong. The dispatched task forces are still assisting flood control, flood relief, and rescue operations in Liaoning and Jilin. The consultation pointed out that the country is now entering a critical stage of flood control. Over the next three days, rainfall will be relatively heavy in eastern Northwest China, the Huanghuai region, and South China. Some areas in Guangdong and Guangxi may experience extremely heavy rainstorms, posing a high risk of disasters. Relevant departments require localities to strengthen monitoring, forecasting, and early warning, promptly carry out personnel evacuation and risk avoidance, focus on guarding against highrisk areas such as the mouths of mountain torrent gullies and narrow river sections, and strengthen flood defense for rivers, dike inspections, and reservoir safety management. At the same time, efforts should be accelerated on disaster relief and postdisaster recovery and reconstruction, and damaged infrastructure should be repaired as soon as possible.
