Beijing civil procuratorial authorities help migrant workers and other groups recover nearly 250 million yuan in unpaid wages

A message from the Beijing Municipal People’s Procuratorate on July 29 said that since 2021, the civil procuratorial departments of Beijing’s procuratorates have handled more than 14,000 effective civil judgment supervision cases, filed 1,243 protest and retrial procuratorial recommendations, facilitated 147 prosecutorial reconciliations, and helped groups such as migrant workers recover nearly 250 million yuan in unpaid wages. The Beijing Municipal Procuratorate said that in recent years, civil procuratorial work has paid more attention to moving the review process forward, focusing on cases involving marriage, support and childrearing, inheritance, contract disputes, sham litigation, neighborhood disputes, as well as oldcity courtyards, timehonored trademarks, and the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage, to identify the value points embodied in family tradition and family education, integrity and the rule of law, social morality, and the capital’s cultural lineage. In response to the issue of sham litigation, the Beijing Municipal Procuratorate, together with the Municipal Public Security Bureau, has improved coordinated supervision and investigation mechanisms, and used big data models to identify abnormal leads. After the relevant models were put into use, the city has handled 319 cases of sham litigation used to fraudulently obtain housing provident funds by exercising its authority, and returned more than 13 million yuan in housing provident funds. The Beijing procuratorial authorities said that in the next step, they will continue to promote the integration of socialist core values into civil procuratorial case handling and public legal education.
