Beijing, June 3 (Xinhua) — Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at the regular press conference that day that China is deeply concerned about the renewed escalation of the situation in the Middle East.
Mao Ning said that the recent moves by the United States and Iran to strike each other have further intensified tensions in the region, and that resuming hostilities is in neither side’s interest. China hopes the relevant parties will cherish the hardwon opportunity for a ceasefire, earnestly fulfill their respective commitments, and continue to maintain momentum in negotiations.
She also said that all parties should adhere to resolving disputes through political and diplomatic means, achieve a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire as early as possible, and create conditions for restoring peace and stability in the Middle East and Gulf region.
