The Blue House on the 23rd once again rebutted Chief Justice Cho Heedae's refusal to comply with the request for a renomination of Supreme Court justices, and urged that followup procedures be carried out promptly. The Blue House argued that the President's refusal to appoint is clearly stated in the official document, and said that Chief Justice Cho's explanation that the reason for the renomination request was unclear is not true. It also stated that there were procedural flaws in the process of recommending candidates for Supreme Court justices. It pointed out that even though the Recommendation Committee lawfully recommended the candidates under the Court Organization Act, confirming their intention to resign again could undermine fairness. The Blue House also emphasized that the President's power to appoint Supreme Court justices is not merely a formal authority, and that the President must be able to judge a candidate's qualifications and decide whether to appoint them.
