Han Zheng meets with British Foreign Secretary Cooper

On June 2, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with British Foreign Secretary Cooper in Beijing. Han Zheng said that in January this year, President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Starmer reached an agreement on developing a longterm, stable, comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the UK, ushering bilateral relations into a new stage of development. He said that the improvement and development of ChinaUK relations is in the interests of both peoples, and that the two sides should strengthen strategic communication, consolidate the current positive momentum, expand cooperation, promote peopletopeople exchanges, and enhance coordination in multilateral affairs and global governance reform. Cooper said that the UK and China have broad common interests and cooperation potential in areas such as economic and trade investment, artificial intelligence, green development, and responding to climate change. The UK is ready to work with China to implement the important common understandings reached by the leaders of the two countries, continue constructive dialogue and cooperation, and jointly address global challenges.
