The 7th Sichuan Province Vocational Skills Competition for Persons with Disabilities Opens in Luzhou

On July 21, the opening ceremony of the 7th Sichuan Provincial Vocational Skills Competition and Exhibition Exchange for Persons with Disabilities was held in Luzhou. Under the theme “Skills Illuminate the Future, SelfReliance Achieves Dreams,” this year’s event featured 22 official events across five major categories: information technology, fine arts, handicrafts, industry, and services, including 12 newly added events. A total of 389 contestants with disabilities from 21 cities and prefectures across Sichuan took part, and a delegation from the Chongqing Disabled Persons’ Federation was also invited, setting a new record for participation. The competition events covered multiple fields, including data processing, network system management, short video production, drone operation, hairstyling, pastry making, and blind health massage. The winning contestants will also become reserve members of Sichuan’s team for the National Vocational Skills Competition for Persons with Disabilities. In addition to the skills competition, the event also adopted a “competition plus exhibition” model, showcasing Sichuan’s achievements in the development of the disability cause, intangible cultural heritage creative products, and technologyassisted disability applications. It also set up exhibition areas for employment brands, enterprises, and social organizations, providing a platform for employment and entrepreneurship for persons with disabilities as well as for experience exchange. Sichuan said that in the next step it will continue to improve the training and employment support system for skilled talent with disabilities and promote a more equal environment for career development.
