The Ministry of Ecology and Environment, together with relevant departments, recently held a deployment and promotion meeting in Beijing and decided to carry out a joint special campaign to severely crack down on acts of falsification by ecological environment monitoring institutions, in order to safeguard the authenticity and reliability of monitoring data and provide support for improving ecological environment quality. The meeting pointed out that although relevant departments have in recent years strengthened the centralized management of environmental quality monitoring authority and continuously investigated and dealt with falsification problems, some monitoring institutions still have prominent violations, and the rectification work still needs to maintain a highpressure stance. This campaign will be advanced in three stages: first, comprehensively ascertain the baseline and urge institutions to conduct selfinspections and establish records; then carry out centralized rectification, handle all kinds of falsification problems in accordance with the law, and strengthen spot checks and verification; thereafter promote normalized and standardized operation, improve management systems and platform construction, and strengthen management of links such as qualification access, instrument use, code of conduct, and lawful withdrawal. The meeting also required strengthening spot checks in key regions, enhancing law enforcement capacity, and coordinating with market regulation, public security, procuratorate, and judicial departments to transfer suspected criminal cases in accordance with the law.
