Coupang’s Taiwan subsidiary and its CEO have been fined a total of NT$1.5 million, or about 65 million won, by Taiwanese authorities in connection with a personal information leak.
Taiwan’s Ministry of Digital Affairs said it had been informed that more than 200,000 Taiwanese users were also affected following Coupang’s personal information leak incident in Korea. The leaked information reportedly included names, email addresses, phone numbers, and delivery addresses.
The authorities also issued a corrective order, and Coupang said it respects the decision and has already paid the fine before proceeding with improvement measures.
