On June 1, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian responded at a regular press briefing to remarks made recently by Japan’s Defense Minister at the ShangriLa Dialogue.
Lin Jian said that Japanese militarism had caused severe disasters to neighboring Asian countries during World War II. In response to a series of recent actions and statements by the Japanese side that have been described as erroneous, the Chinese side believes such developments may threaten regional peace and stability, and the international community should remain highly vigilant.
He also called on all parties to jointly guard against and resolutely curb the rise of "new militarism."
