Yang Hyangja, the People Power Party candidate for Gyeonggi governor, drew a line at the possibility of unifying with Reform Party candidate Cho Eungcheon.
In a radio interview on the 4th, Yang said she is not considering unification at all for now and will face the race headon as the People Power Party candidate. In political circles, the possibility of an opposition bloc to counter Democratic Party candidate Choo Miae had been raised, but Yang expressed a negative stance on this.
He said that for unification to be discussed, there would need to be agreement on restoring the Gyeonggi economy, a philosophy of innovative conservatism, and checking the Democratic Party. He also did not attend the emergency joint meeting of candidates for metropolitan area regional heads held at the National Assembly that morning.
