CNAS has established a four-category accreditation system, with over 22,000 accredited institutions

The China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) released the report "20 Years of China’s Accreditation Development (20062026)" at a related themed session of the Third Certification and Accreditation Conference held in Guangzhou on June 9. The report shows that CNAS has established an accreditation system covering four major categories: certification bodies, laboratories, inspection bodies, and validation and verification bodies. In total, it has accredited more than 22,000 conformity assessment bodies of various types, and the number of valid certification certificates bearing the CNAS accreditation mark has reached more than 1.94 million. The report reviews the changes in China’s accreditation development over the past 20 years, noting that related work has gradually shifted from decentralized management to a unified system, and has formed a development path with Chinese characteristics while aligning with international rules. Its applications have also expanded from traditional manufacturing to fields such as hightech, green and lowcarbon industries, and the digital economy. The report also mentioned that, through improving its governance structure, strengthening industry coordination, and advancing international mutual recognition, CNAS has continuously provided support to multiple industry sectors and participated in the development of multilateral mutual recognition mechanisms. Looking ahead to the 15th FiveYear Plan period, CNAS said it will further promote the development of a digital and intelligent accreditation system, support green and lowcarbon transformation, and enhance the credibility and acceptance of accreditation results at both social and international levels.
