As artificial intelligence applications grow rapidly, demand for computing power continues to rise, making the construction of a nationally integrated computing network an important foundation for driving the development of the digital economy. CCTV News reporters recently visited places including Beijing, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, and Shenzhen, and observed that the scheduling of computing resources, expansion of data centers, and construction of backbone optical cables are all being advanced in parallel. At the Beijing Public AI Computing Power Center, companies have strong demand for computing power, and computing resources from western nodes such as Inner Mongolia and Ningxia are being allocated for use in the east. At the same time, data center clusters in areas such as the Horinger New Area in Inner Mongolia and Zhongwei in Ningxia are also being built at an accelerated pace, with multiple new projects for intelligent computing being launched in concentrated fashion. The report also noted that the optical cable network relied on to transmit computing power between east and west is being upgraded. Supported by nextgeneration backbone optical cables laid along highspeed rail lines, transmission capacity and security have been further improved, and the related network is providing support for the crossregional flow of computing resources. Research institutions are also exploring more efficient ways to schedule computing power, hoping to make computing power serve various AI tasks more conveniently, just like water and electricity.
