On the 6·3 local elections, the People Power Party and the Democratic Party of Korea clashed headon in the National Assembly on the 11th over the shortage of ballot papers that had surfaced.
The People Power Party argued that a special counsel investigation and a parliamentary inquiry into the National Election Commission must be launched immediately, and criticized that relevant evidence is disappearing. The Democratic Party, on the other hand, said that the People Power Party's special counsel proposal contains conspiracytheory elements, and took the position that the facts should first be confirmed through a parliamentary inquiry.
The two parties showed differing stances on how to determine responsibility and the direction of election system reform, and the Democratic Party said it would reexamine the overall election system through a separate task force.
