On the morning of June 26, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tariq, who was on an official visit to China, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The two sides announced that they would upgrade ChinaBangladesh relations to a ChinaBangladesh community with a shared future in the new era, to promote further development of bilateral ties.
Xi said that China attaches importance to friendly neighborly cooperation with Bangladesh, supports Bangladesh in safeguarding its national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and stands ready to strengthen exchanges at all levels, strategic communication, and sharing of experience in governance with the Bangladeshi side, and to continue mutual support on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns. China also said it is willing to jointly build the Belt and Road with Bangladesh to a high standard, expand cooperation in green and lowcarbon development, the digital economy, information technology, artificial intelligence, healthcare, culture, education, and locallevel cooperation, and advance the construction of the ChinaMyanmarBangladesh Economic Corridor.
Tariq said that Bangladesh attaches great importance to relations with China, and is willing to continue deepening cooperation with China in such fields as trade and economy, connectivity, agriculture, science and technology, green energy, education, and healthcare, and will firmly abide by the oneChina principle. The two sides also exchanged views on strengthening coordination within multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations and safeguarding the common interests of the Global South. Wang Yi was present at the meeting.
