The Ministry of Water Resources deploys work on defense against heavy rainfall

According to forecasts, from June 18 to 22, a round of heavy rainfall is expected to hit the Jianghuai region, the western and northern parts of Jiangnan, the central and western parts of South China, the southern and eastern parts of Southwest China, and Hubei, among other areas. Some places may experience extremely heavy rain and shortduration intense rainfall, and some rivers may see a noticeable rise in water levels. On June 17, the Ministry of Water Resources organized a consultation and deployed flooddefense work in response to this round of rainfall and flood conditions, requiring local authorities to closely monitor changes in rainfall, water levels, and flood conditions, issue warning information in a timely manner, and give priority coverage to areas with large numbers of people, such as waterrelated scenic spots and construction sites. At the same time, the Ministry of Water Resources called for scientific operation and scheduling of water conservancy projects, proper floodseason safety management for reservoirs, strengthened defenses against floods in small and mediumsized rivers and mountain torrents, and implementation of responsibilities for key steps such as personnel evacuation, in order to reduce the impacts that heavy rain and floods may bring.
