Securitize rises after SEC clears path for tokenized U.S. stocks
Securitize stock jumps as SEC clears limited trading of tokenized U.S. stocks Tap into the five-year pilot for faster, more flexible digital asset trading
Securitize shares climbed on Thursday after U.S. regulators approved a temporary framework for limited trading of tokenized publicly listed stocks on certain platforms. The Securities and Exchange Commission said the order will run for five years, although it is not a permanent rule change.
The move was described by SEC Chair Paul Atkins as an innovation exemption aimed at supporting new market models while keeping investor protections and market integrity in place. Tokenization allows ownership rights in assets such as stocks and bonds to be recorded on a digital ledger, which can make trading more flexible.
Securitize, which went public in the U.S. in early July, is one of the larger firms in the tokenized asset market and holds about 9% of assets under management in the segment, according to the article. Needham Securities said the broader tokenized asset market has grown sharply over the past year, reaching $38.51 billion as of Thursday afternoon.
