NEAR Intents says it identified the hacker after $3.8 million breach
NEAR Intents breach recovery: $3.8M stolen and 48 hours to return the funds. The team will reimburse users and shares wallet addresses to aid recovery.
NEAR Intents said it has identified the person behind a recent security breach that led to the theft of $3.8 million in user funds. The protocol is giving the attacker 48 hours to return the money under what it described as a responsible disclosure window.
Alex Shevchenko, general manager at NEAR Intents, said the team shared wallet addresses for Bitcoin, BNB, and Solana in an effort to receive the returned funds. He warned that the opportunity to resolve the incident voluntarily would end after the 48hour deadline.
The breach was detected on Thursday, when NEAR Intents paused services after finding a bug in the interaction between the Omni deposit and withdrawal system and the NEAR Intents smart contract. The company said it plans to reimburse affected users in full.
Blockchain investigator ZachXBT said the stolen funds were moved to the KuCoin exchange and then bridged to Bitcoin.
