NEAR Intents recovers $3.8 million after breach
NEAR Intents recovers $3.8M after a security breach and service pause Funds were returned in full; see how the team handled the incident
NEAR Intents said it has recovered the full $3.8 million stolen in a security breach that took place on Thursday. The company said the funds were returned after the person responsible was identified and given 48 hours to respond.
General manager Alex Shevchenko said the money was sent back in full and that the investigation would be stopped. He also urged the use of bug bounties instead of actions that disrupt services.
NEAR Intents had paused services after finding a bug in the interaction between its Omni deposit and withdrawal infrastructure and its smart contract. The project said it would compensate affected users in full, and blockchain investigator ZachXBT said the stolen funds were moved to KuCoin and then bridged to Bitcoin.
