Marina Mabrey scored 53 points as the Toronto Tempo beat the Los Angeles Sparks 12597 on Thursday night in Toronto, matching the WNBA singlegame scoring record.
Mabrey tied the mark held by Liz Cambage and A'ja Wilson and also matched the league record with nine 3pointers. She said teammates told her late in the game that she was close to the milestone.
Toronto built its highestscoring game of the season around Mabrey's performance. Julie Allemand added 13 points and 14 assists, while Nneka Ogwumike and Dearica Hamby each scored 21 for Los Angeles.
The win moved Toronto back to .500 at 99, while the Sparks fell to 89. The Tempo next host Phoenix on Saturday.
