B.C. Ferries to add 5% fuel surcharge on June 16

B.C. Ferries fuel surcharge adds 5% to all fares starting June 16 See how rising fuel costs affect tickets, vehicles and reservations

B.C. Ferries says it will add a 5% fuel surcharge to all fares on all routes beginning June 16 as higher fuel costs continue to affect its operations. The ferry authority said rising fuel prices, linked in part to the conflict in the Middle East and disruption in the Strait of Hormuz, have increased its costs in recent months. It said it had previously absorbed some of the expense through its fuel deferral account, but that a surcharge was needed while prices remain elevated. The surcharge will apply to foot passengers, vehicle users, reservations, saver fares and terminal fares. B.C. Ferries said the charge could be lowered or removed if fuel prices stay down for a sustained period.
