Ford government reviews eight Ontario public agencies

The Ontario government has launched a review of eight large public agencies to examine efficiency, productivity and spending sustainability.
Treasury Board President Peter Bethlenfalvy announced the review on Aug. 5, 2026, saying the agencies will be assessed this summer. The list includes Metrolinx, the LCBO, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, Supply Ontario, Ontario Cannabis Retail Corporation, Legal Aid Ontario, Agricorp and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
The move comes as provincial spending has faced fresh scrutiny after Torontoarea Progressive Conservative caucus members were criticized for charging thousands of dollars in hotel stays. Ford said he had told them to repay every penny, though Bethlenfalvy said he could not confirm whether that had already happened.
