South Park creators say they will keep mocking Trump in new season
South Park satirizes Trump as Matt Stone and Trey Parker vow to keep pushing Backlash won’t stop the new season—see how the show stays sharp and fearless
South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker say they will continue satirizing U.S. President Donald Trump in the show’s upcoming season, despite criticism and pressure to tone it down.
In a recent video for the Television Academy Honors, the pair said the longrunning animated series has always challenged attempts to limit its jokes and that their role is to push back with satire. Parker said the current political climate makes that work more difficult, but added that the show will keep doing what it thinks is funniest.
The comments follow a Trumpfocused season that aired after a twoyear break, including scenes and jokes aimed at Trump and several other U.S. political figures. The creators said they are not worried about backlash and plan to keep making the kind of comedy that has defined the series for nearly 30 years.
