911 Call Played in Ajax Murder Trial

Kyle Severin murder trial: 911 call and texts reveal new details in Polak's death Hear what prosecutors say happened that night and why the evidence matters now

A 911 call made from Kyle Severin’s phone on the night of March 30, 2024, was played in an Oshawa courtroom on Friday as his jury trial continued in the death of his girlfriend, Jennifer Polak. In the call, a frantic male voice told dispatchers he was at 14 Hillman Dr. in Ajax, claimed there had been several men in the home, and said his girlfriend was dead in the bedroom. He also said there was blood everywhere and that he was afraid to turn on the lights because he thought he could be shot. The Crown says Polak, a 45yearold mother of two who worked at a daycare, was badly beaten and stabbed in Severin’s basement apartment. Prosecutors also pointed to text messages between the couple and said the evidence will show Polak had been worried about Severin’s drinking, drug use, and behavior before her death. Severin has pleaded not guilty to seconddegree murder.
