CAA says potholes are the main reason several Ontario roads landed on its annual Worst Roads list for 2026. The group released the rankings on Thursday and put Barton Street East in Hamilton at the top.
Brian Pirvu, a government relations consultant for CAA South Central Ontario, said Barton Street has already been part of reconstruction work for several years. He also said four Toronto roads appeared on this year’s list after a harsh winter made it harder for crews to address potholes quickly.
CAA says the campaign is meant to push dialogue with municipal and provincial governments so they can focus on infrastructure repairs where they are most needed. Other concerns raised by voters included poor maintenance and uneven road surfaces. The list highlights roads across Ontario, including entries in Toronto, Mississauga, Greater Sudbury, Fort Erie and Innisfil.
