Scott Aitchison resigns: key facts on the Ontario Conservative MP’s exit See what his departure means for Parry Sound–Muskoka and the House
Ontario Conservative MP Scott Aitchison says he plans to resign his seat at the end of the fall sitting, ending a federal political career that began in 2019.
Aitchison, who represents Parry Sound–Muskoka and was once a candidate for the Conservative leadership, said he is ready for a new chapter after 30 years in public life. In a social media post, he thanked constituents and staff and said he had worked to reduce bureaucracy and improve life for the people he served.
Aitchison, a former mayor of Huntsville, did not say what he will do next. His departure will add another vacancy in the House of Commons, where several seats are already empty.
