Man seriously injured after police use bean-bag shotgun at Toronto hospital

Ontario’s police watchdog says a 26yearold man was seriously injured after being struck by a beanbag round fired from a lesslethal shotgun at a Toronto hospital.
According to the Special Investigations Unit, officers were called to Centenary Hospital in Toronto’s east end on Sunday morning after reports that the man was carrying a sharpedged weapon. Police negotiated with him before one officer fired the round during the arrest.
The SIU says the man suffered serious but nonlifethreatening injuries. The agency is investigating because the incident resulted in serious injury.
